Island living can be defined as a way of life. Vancouver island is approximately 460 kilometers long, from tip to toe, and is surrounded by smaller islands and communities. The Island benefits from all of the amenities that you woulld find anywhere in Canada, with larger cities such as Victoria, Nanaimo and Campbell River, and a selection of box stores including Wal-Mart and Costco. In addition, the Island is full of smaller towns and villages that offer everything from boutique shops and restaurants to rural communities where little has changed in a hundred years.
Vancouver Island is an outdoor dream - we have hidden coves, large sandy beaches, world-class surfing, rainforests, trails, mountains and cave systems, all within easy reach. If you are a winter sports person, Mount Washington offers a full ski-season, often with some of the best snow in the West of Canada.
I love living on Vancouver Island. The pace of life is slower, people are friendly and there is always something to see and do. The Island is small enough to travel around by vehicle, yet has some of the most inaccessible and hidden treasures in the whole of Canada - ideal for those who love to explore. Don't just take my word for it though - come and visit and see what we have to offer!
